Line Closure

The Healesville line and the nearby Warburton Railway line served the Yarra Valley for nearly 100 years. Gradual decline of track condition and passenger numbers saw the closure and removal of the Warburton Train line in 1965. The Healesville line survived for a little longer, but eventually on the 9th December 1980, the final public train ran on the Healesville line.

Although a short section of track between Lilydale and Coldstream remained in use to serve a fertilizer depot, this operation also ceased in early 1993.
