Traffic on the Line

Traffic on the line included timber, live-stock, milk and dairy products. Early time-tables even included a daily evening mixed milk (Monday-Saturday) and a milk train on Sunday. “A2” locos were used as “through trains” to Healesville up to the time of electrification to Lilydale (30th November 1925) when this practice ceased.

From then Healesville and Warburton trains were hauled by two electric motor carriages from Melbourne to Lilydale. “K” or “D3” steam locos were then used to take the carriages onto Healesville and Warburton.
